I've been playing a kit at a rehearsal studio that has Attack Heads on the toms. The kit sounds great and the heads "feel" pretty good. Do any of you have experiences with these heads?

    Thanks

    Hi, Andy-

In short, I think they sound awesome until they break 3 gigs later... I'm only talking about the snare head, I don't know how long the toms would hold up or how they sound. But, like I said, if they were more durable, I would use them alot on the snare. They just break too easily, and I'm not that hard of a hitter.

I have used them in the past. They are made overseas, they use a similar mylar that of Remo. Different coating process. Different collar. Never had any break on me, did have problems with the dots though, i tend to use an underneath dot on the snare and at one time the dots were exploding inside the drums and there would be little bits of adhesive dot everywhere.
That is the only problem I ever encountered with them.

The Attack heads I used actually came with the dot prestuck on. I don't try to even put a dot on a head other then a patch on my kic drum head.

    Randy,

My friend at Fortune Drums (www.fortunedrums.com) turned me onto the dot underneath the head thing. It works great for snare heads. I take a small bit a alcohol and clean the bottom of the head before I put the dot on. Also, some dots splinter more than others.

It IS a real pain picking all those loose pieces off the inside of the snare.
